My interpretation of the 23rd psalm

My interpretation of the 23rd psalm…candace cole-mccrea

                The 23rd Song, translated into American Indian spirituality

The Great Spirit protects my Soul;

                There is nothing to fear.

He created me to rest comfortably on His Beloved Earth;

                He leads my Mind to quiet waters of peace;

                In this way, He heals and renews my Spirit.

He teaches me to walk only in paths of Truth and Respect.

                I walk in gratitude and reverence at His Holy Name.

                I hear Him echoed through Brother Wind.

Though I may walk through the depth of despair that

                Pretends to be Death,

                I have chosen to fear no Evil.

                His Love keeps my Soul alive.  The Shield and Staff of His Nation protect me.

                Therein is my Allegiance.

                He accepts me and comforts me as one of His Own.

He has prepared a celebration with me

                And we have welcomed all my enemies.

Through the Grace of Forgiveness my Spirit joins Him

                In the fullness of Love and Kindness.

Death, the Great Pretender, has no power such as this.

                I will not fear.

His Path has taught me.  There is no doubt.

I  SHALL DWELL IN THE HEART OF MY LOVING CREATOR FOREVERMORE…SUCH IS HIS PROMISE.
